Human Services:

In preparation for the Gitanyow treaty negotiations an overall approach was created to facilitate the development of a cohesive human services plan for the fields of education, health, justice, social services and child welfare. Gitanyow values and beliefs formed the basis of the guiding principles for each human service area. This process involved a series of working sessions with the Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs and key Huwilp members. At the conclusion of each session, a discussion paper was drafted and these papers formed the Gitanyow human services foundation for the on-going treaty negotiations.
