One health care cut you may never see – 4/24/2002 11:26:03 PM

It seems that other than complaints about health cuts, education cuts, and dozens of other Liberal public service cuts, there's not much to hear on the streets anymore. Even in adversity, though, there always seems to be at least one in the crowd who can dull the pain of reality with their sadistic sense of humor. …Full Story. More Stories…

You can help to make it a clean sweep – 4/18/2002 10:16:45 AM

It's that time of year. Cleanup time. And the Greater Terrace Beautification Society is asking for your help to clear city streets of winter's wind-blown debris. Bags, boxes, wrappers, car parts, and probably an item or two of abandoned winter clothing do nothing to make our city look great. …Full Story. More Stories…

Terrace Fire and Rescue chief Randy Smith spent the month of October last year in New York City helping with what then was still a recovery effort. Smith, a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Response Team, was stationed about a block from Ground Zero, at St. John's University where thousands of rescue works ate, tried to relax, sometimes slept, and often cried. …Full Story. Time to clean up the city – 2/28/2002 9:18:27 AM

As the beauty of winter loses its battle with spring, city streets everywhere have that drab unkempt look that seems more like a battlefield than the birth of a new season. We know that Nature will do its job. The world will eventually turn green and winter's sand, dust and litter will be swept up or blown away. Eventually. The Greater Terrace Beautification Society , though, would like to launch a new season where everyone in town gives Mother Nature a helping hand. And to encourage this responsible, civic behaviour, the society got together with concept and artist to create an image to brighten our day and remind us that litter has its place in our lives. In the trash.…Full Story. More Stories…

Just for the record: We celebrated too . . . At least a few of us did – 2/26/2002 6:20:49 PM

Everyone saw video clips on any newscast they happened to tune into of Canadians celebrating gold in men's hockey. (Not to diminish the value of the Women's hockey gold.) It was on all the Canadian networks, all the American networks, almost every network on the plant it seemed, or so it seemed: Canadians dancing in the streets. …Full Story. More Stories…
