Community Economic Development

The 16/37 Community Economic Development team work with municipalities, First Nations Bands, Tribal Councils, the Regional District, community organizations and small businesses to encourage and support community economic development initiatives.

We promote and encourage:

local decision-making processes which enable communities to initiate and generate their own solutions to their economic problems, and thereby build long-term community capacity; and
community involvement in strategic planning, solving problems, resolving conflicts and building entrepreneurial capacity.

We offer communities services in:

counselling,
development of economic diversification strategies,
technical assistance including viability assessment and proposal writing, and
information on provincial and federal government funding sources.
