Riverboat Days 2002: Crime Stoppers Jail 'n' Bailout

The Terrace Crime Stoppers Jail 'n' Bailout was a huge and entertaining success once again. Close to 40 "unruly" residents were arrested by RCMP officers and carted off to the makeshift jail in the 7-11 parking lot. Total bail money paid out to gain the release of these people totaled nearly $1,500 which will go to a good cause in fighting real crime.

Alleged offences were as varied as the prisoners attached to them. To name a few:

  • Too much fun at work
  • Bald head creating a traffic hazard with the glare
  • Excessive frugalism
  • Not playing nice with the competition
  • Not giving me a raise

We're not sure what section of the Criminal Code you'll find the penalty for these crimes listed. They must be listed somewhere, however—they were arrested by real police—and at only $1,500 for the collective lot, we're certain they were treated with great understanding and compassion by presiding judge David Hull.

Terrace Crimestoppers thank the jailed and their accusers for their support, and the Terrace RCMP for their enthusiasm . . . Keeping up with a three hour crime wave is never easy.
