MISSING HIKER'S BODY FOUND ON MT. ELIZABETH . . . – 9/25/2002 8:22:35 AM

News Bulletin from RCMP Press Release Tuesday 2002-09-24 1710 hrs. Four volunteer searchers from Terrace and four Members of the North Shore Search and Rescue, all experienced mountaineers returned this date to search Mount Elizabeth near Kitimat for missing Hiker Christopher Markoff, age 22 from Richmond BC. At approximately 12:00 noon Tuesday they located the body of Christopher Markoff lodged in a crevice near the glacier on th top of Mount Elizabeth, The RCMP are assisting the Coroner in an investigation into the incident, foul play is not suspected. An extensive earlier ground and air search had previously failed to locate Christopher. . . Please watch www.kermode.net for further stories on this unfortunate accident over the next days.
