As a participant, you will become a more effective negotiator and achieve greater success for your organization in its Aboriginal/Crown negotiations. Using proven techniques, you will learn about and practice each of the steps in the negotiations process:

  • First: Find out how to choose your negotiation team and how to prepare thoroughly for your negotiations.
  • Next: Discover which negotiation models and strategies are best suited to your situation and objectives.
  • Then: Build your negotiating skills by participating in simulations, role plays and experiential learning experiences.
  • Finally: Get expert advice on how to be a powerful negotiator and increase your ability to influence the outcomes of your negotiations.

Other topics that will be covered area interest clarification, the goals of negotiation, community participation in the negotiation process, the role of alternative dispute resolution and mediation, the Crown as negotiator, and multi-party negotiations.
